Sunday Programs for Children at NPC
Sunday Mornings in Children's Ministries
Just as children gain their personal identity by being and living within their families, we desire to nurture our children’s spiritual identities by welcoming and encouraging their participation in our worship community.
At Naperville Presbyterian Church, children of any age are welcomed to join us in our morning worship services. We recommend children participate in worship with their parents during one service and attend Sunday School during the education hour. While they may not understand everything that goes on during the worship service, it is important for them to begin to feel a part of the worshipping community. Parents play an important and integral role in modeling participative worship and helping children engage in it.
During the sermon, children in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade have the opportunity for age appropriate Bible learning in the Multipurpose Room (MPR). BLAST! (Bible Learning And Sharing Together) is a ministry we offer for children (K-3rd Grade) who wish to be dismissed during the sermon time. Parents are to pick up their children from the MPR after the service. (Note that if you and your children are attending Sunday School following the first service, you need to pick up your children from BLAST! and take them to their class). 4th & 5th Graders will attend the entire service with their families. Children's sermon inserts are available in the Weekly each week. For the youngest children, nurseries through Pre K classes are available during the services.
Christian Education
Sunday mornings are not boring and we aim to offer our kids something that is real, in-depth and relevant in a safe and secure environment. Our lessons are Biblical and reformed and our goal is to challenge kids to respond with their hearts and lives, to live their faith, making a personal commitment to Christ.
Children must be the appropriate age or in the appropriate class by September 1st to attend that class. For example, children must be two years old by September 1st, to attend the Two's Sunday School class for this year. A child must be in 3rd grade by September 1st in order to attend the 3rd grade Sunday School class. If you have questions, please contact the Children's Ministries office.
Children's Library
Our Children's Library contains many wonderful Christian storybooks, videos and DVDs. It is located in the Children's Ministry wing and open most Sundays before and after the Christian Education hour unless otherwise posted. Children are welcome to browse and select their favorite Bible stories, Christian videos and tapes, fiction and other story books. Parents need to initially sign up their children to check out books. After signup is completed, children are able to check out books on their own.
