High School Announcements
Focus for the year 2007-2008: Following Jesus means that we will
not be conformed to the world but be transformed. Jesus said
that following him is a call to carry our cross, to die to the world
that we might truly live. It is a call to Be Radical.
What good is it to gain the whole world but yet to forfeit our
souls? We will learn what it means to Be Radical this
year in HSM. Will you Be Radical this year? SAM: The
Sunday School classes are off for the summer this year. We
will worship with our families this summer.
There will be many activities for the students outside of Sunday
morning. Check out the announcements page for the schedule of all
summer events. ELEMENT: This summer, we will have SPM (Sunday pm) on most Sunday evenings from 6-7:30 pm at NPC
for Bible study. During the school year, our High School
community meets every Sunday from 6:00 pm to
8:00 pm at Naperville Presbyterian Church in Room 032.
Students get together for games, sharing, prayer, Bible study and
small group discussion on relevant issues for today's high school
students. We'll ask difficult ethical, moral and spiritual
questions that help you interact with your faith ad explore where
your heart is in relation to the Gospel. Small Groups: these meet as part of
ELEMENT. These groups focus on building relationships with
students and helping students understand how their faith affects
their life. These groups meet during the school year.
Retreats, Trips and other Activities: Throughout the
year, High School Ministries will have fun activities and service
opportunities. Activities include fall and winter retreats,
summer trips, community service projects, concerts, outings and fun
nights.
SLT: The Student Leadership Team is a team of
students organized to help run activities and plan meetings.
The SLT consists of students who value NPC and are interested in
helping customize the high school experience, care for others and
change the course of ministry to students here.
Deeper Foundations: This 5 week study gives students
an opportunity to better understand the Christian faith, looking at
issues such as how we got our Bible and why we can trust it, what
God is like, who Jesus is, how we grow in following Christ, and how
the Presbyterian church fits into the midst of Christianity.
This class serves as the high school version of communicants and
membership class. For students who have gone through a
communicant class, this study will help them deepen their
understanding of the Christian faith and answer questions that they
might face as they go through high school and college. Check
the announcements page to see when this study is offered.
