Middle School Membership at NPC
MSM Communing Membership classes are held each winter. Our class for 2012 will be starting on January 8. Letters were recently mailed to families about the upcoming class. Please contact Tracey or Jonathan to sign up. Parents are asked to attend the first class with your student. Class meets on Sunday morning at 9:55-10:45 in room 085. Communing Membership Class (formerly called Communicants Class) is intended for students desiring to understand the full meaning and purpose behind the sacrament of Communion, as well as the basic tenants of NPC, and to know more about the covenant relationship with God. Class instructors are Jim Lutkevich and Barbara Dawes. Please contact Tracey Bouton* or Jonathan Bozarth* in the Student Ministries office to sign up. The Bible makes it clear that it is very important that a person be confident of their salvation and committed to growing in Christ before choosing to take communion. Therefore, the Gospel will be very clearly presented and discussed in this class, as will the importance of attending consistent Christian community.
Once a student has completed the course faithfully, he or she will be received as a member before the congregation. Students are considered full voting members when they turn 16. If a student has not been baptized, baptism is required before they are received. This is usually done in the same service they are received as members.
