W.O.W. - Willing Older Women are women willing to help our younger women
with the demands of everyday life. Our goal is to encourage the older
women in our church community to invest time, energy, resources and love
in the younger women of our church. The help we offer benefits all of us
as we become known and valued to each other. We fill a void where
families live far away; we take a little of the strain from their busy
lives and marriages as we share a little of our lives.
We see our church family as one that spans the generations in a
meaningful way, showing real concern and offering tangible help to those
following our Christian footsteps.
Contact the
church office at 630-961-0579 to be put in touch with our W.O.W.
ladies or if you would like to volunteer by offering your time in this
ministry. W.O.W. ladies are looking forward to your call.
Ideas for Practical Help
- Laundry day - come along side from first load out of dryer to
last load folded and put away
- Run errands - go with or go alone to run errands for young
mothers. Pick up prescriptions or dry cleaning.
- Doctor visits - watch children while mother attends doctor or
dentist appointments. Go with mother if she needs help with one or
more children attending their appointments.
- Organizing - help young mothers make the best use of space and
time by helping to organize closets, kitchens, laundry rooms and
kids' rooms.
- Child care - as needed, as willing. Take child to the library,
music practice or out for a walk so mom can rest.
- Pet care - as needed, as willing
- Advising - when asked for, as long as you feel you have
something to offer and are willing to have it ignored
- Gardening, etc. - if one of them needs it, one of us can do it!
