Audio Help

Naperville Presbyterian Church provides both RealPlayer stream and mp3 versions of weekly Sunday morning messages online.

This website has the ability to stream Real Media formats so that you can begin listening to your selection after a short pause. Clicking the Real link in the sermon list will begin the process for streaming an mp3 file to the RealOne software installed on your computer. If you don't have RealPlayer software installed on your personal computer you may download free software from RealOne. Versions are available for PC and Apple computers.  Make certain you select the free version! Listen to the mp3 file using Windows Media Player and MSIE V6 by clicking the mp3 link. To download a sermon to your computer or audio device, right click the mp3 link and choose the Save Target As option. Audio Compact Disks for any sermon in the digital archive are also available upon request.

Single CD's containing mp3 files of all sermons from the year 2002 or 2003 are also available. The yearly sermon CD's are organized as a web on CD allowing sermon files to be accessed from your web browser by title or date. The mp3 files are also playable on any mp3 player or many newer DVD players.

To place an order for CD's send an email to npc@npchurch.org with your request.  There is $4 charge per CD for production and shipping in the USA.

Resolving Difficulties

If you experience difficulties listening in RealPlayer, please make certain you are running the latest version of the free Real software. There is no need to spend any money for this software; it's available free of charge (but you may have to examine the fine print on the screen closely to find the link!)

If difficulties persist after obtaining the new software version, you may send email to soundservant@npchurch.org describing the problem in as much detail as possible. Please include your ISP and internet connection speed. Slow or congested connections are typically the greatest problem in RealPlayer listening. Audio files are encoded at 48 Kbits/S and include mp3PRO information. If your link is not that fast you will likely have trouble listening in streaming mode. In that case, download the mp3 file.

The mp3 format is useful for offline listening on your computer and portable personal audio devices. It is possible to download an entire file, store it on your computer for listening, or transfer it to a portable device. Windows Media Player which comes pre-installed with many computers, supports many of these features. Alternatively, free software for Windows and MAC computers is available from several sources.  Make sure you select the free version.

Microsoft Users

Windows Media Player V9 and Internet Explorer V6 are able to begin playing mp3 files after a short initial pause if your data link is sufficiently fast. If, however, you actually want to download the mp3 file, right click on the mp3 link and select the Save Target As option. This will also allow you to specify the download location of the mp3 file instead of the default download area (probably something like "MyMusic").
