| Podcasting is a combination of internet technologies that
allow you to sign up to receive mp3 files and other content that is automatically
synchronized to your iPod or other
mp3 player when the files are posted. For example, whenever a
sermon is posted on the NPC site, your podcast software will
automatically download the sermon to your iPod or other mp3
player. You don't have to remember to download it or get a CD
after service; the sermon will be automatically downloaded to
your mp3 player when it is placed on the NPC site. Note: This is
in the "experimental" stage, and if the response is favorable,
we would like to
eventually expand this capability to other NPC teaching.

How do I do this?
First, you need an mp3 player that synchronizes with music software
on your computer (iPod with iTunes, for example).
Next, you
will need "aggregator" software. iPodder is a
great program to use and can be
downloaded for free. NOTE: If you use iTunes
version 4.9 or higher, you do not need aggregator software;
you can subscribe to podcasts using iTunes (under Advanced /
Subscribe to podcasts).
You are now ready to add the NPC feed.
-
Right click on the
PodCast Listen Now logo above and select Copy Link Location.
-
Add a new feed in the iPodder
software
-
Click
on the Subscriptions tab, go into "Tools" and select
"Add a Feed."
-
At the "URL" prompt, either press Control+V,
or right click and select paste. This will paste in
the address of the link location you copied above.

Click
on "Save." That's all there is to it!
You will want to set up an automatic schedule so iPodder
checks the NPC website occasionally for new sermons. The
maximum interval you can set between checks is 12 hours. To
set up the schedule, go into the iPodder menu Tools and select
Scheduler. Click on Enable Scheduler and select
the interval between checks -- 12 hours is the maximum time
between checks, and is obviously more than adequate for
sermons that are posted weekly.
Is there more I should know?
The internet is a good resource form more information. Try a Google search on the word Podcast;
you'll find that more and more sites are making their content available
through PodCasting. There are many directories that list sites
that PodCast. Here are a couple you might want
to check out:
